Ever since I was a little girl I knew that I wanted to be a mother. It was always in my mind whenever I thought about my future. Granted what I envisioned as a little girl is definitely different than what I have now, but what I have now is better than I could have ever imagined. I am a strong Christian woman and I also had a sense that becoming a mother was a calling to me from God. Being a mother was one of the reasons I was sent to Earth and it is a part of my mission in life.
Being a mom is the most important thing any woman will do in this life. Being a mother teaches and refines. It brings out your weaknesses, it takes you to your limits and then beyond. I have never been so exhausted and so happy all at the same time, but it happens all the time. I have two little ones that bring me the most joy I have ever felt. It is a hard calling but a calling that is worth it everyday.

The call to be a mother is a very spiritual job. There is a little person or persons that rely on you to teach them love and kindness. How to tie their shoes, get dressed, pray, read, etc. Mothers are there for every step and milestone. We see every heartbreak and triumph. That is why this calling is so immensely important. We are the ones that are shaping the future of this world. We have been called by God.
Women of God
I came across a profound quote about women explaining perfectly why women of God are so vital in today’s world.
“The world has enough women who are tough; we need women who are tender. There are enough women who are coarse; we need women who are kind. There are enough women who are rude; we need women who are refined. We have enough women of fame and fortune; we need more women of faith. We have enough greed; we need more goodness. We have enough vanity; we need more virtue. We have enough popularity; we need more purity.” -Margaret D. Nadauld
Now after reading this quote you may think I am instigating that women are weak or timid, but I truly believe that women are strong and a force to be reckoned with (just ask my husband). But I love this quote because the innate things that are in women are the things that the world needs today. Women are precious in God’s eyes, we have this natural instinct to be good. There are always the outliers but I believe that women are made to change the world because of their natural goodness. The softness and quiet strength that women have is what makes us divinely capable to raise children. Just imagine what the world would be like today if we all were kinder and softer towards each other.

Called of God
In a world that tries to bring mothers down at every turn God sees us as the people He has entrusted His children to. We have been called by Him to teach and nurture His children so that they may know their worth and strength in an ever increasing evil world. Russell M. Nelson said “It would be impossible to measure the influence that… women have, not only on families but also on the Lord’s Church, as wives, mothers, and grandmothers; as sisters and aunts; as teachers and leaders; and especially as exemplars and devout defenders of the faith” This is what we are called to be. We are warriors fighting in a war without guns. We are fighting a war to raise the next generation to be strong and valiant, in a world that hates when people stand up for what they believe.
God has called you. You were given a precious gift. Being a mother is probably the most important thing any of us will ever do in this life.
Love of God
I have never believed in love at first sight. Call me cynical but it just never seemed possible to me. That was until I gave birth to my beautiful daughter. The second they laid her in my arms I felt the strongest sense of love. I have never felt anything like it. I knew instantly that I loved her and that I would do anything for her. I believe that this generally happens to all mothers. The moment you meet your little one you are a goner. But I also believe that the love responds the other way.
Children instantly connect to their mothers. They hear your voice for 9 months in the womb. They know you before they enter the world. Infants instantly recognize their mother’s scent and heartbeat, this is why they lay them on you after they are born. You are their safe place. I love that my son wants me over everyone else and that he lights up instantly when he sees me. My daughter freaks out if she thinks I am going anywhere without her. That is love in the way they know how to show it. M. Russell Ballard has said “Because our mothers love us, we learn, or more accurately remember, that God also loves us”
This quote hit home for me. The earliest memories I have of love are from my parents. Were they the perfect parents, of course not. But did I know that they loved me unconditionally, of course! And because I knew this the thought of God loving me was easier to understand. If my imperfect parents loved me as much as they did then my perfect Heavenly Father must love me more than I could even comprehend. This is true for your little ones. By loving them you are showing them that God loves them too.

Mothers are Divine
You are DIVINE. You have been sent a precious gift to love and guide in a world that makes it feel impossible. But as you follow God He will guide you on how to raise your babies to be strong. “Motherhood is near to divinity. It is the highest, holiest service to be assumed by mankind. It places her who honors its holy calling and service next to the angels” – First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Motherhood is the hardest, most frustrating thing I have ever done. I have days where I feel like I cannot do one more minute. But I do and I am sure you do too. We keep going even when we are at our breaking points. We keep going because we have given ourselves completely to the miracles sent to us. It is something I would never trade. You have been called. You are divine. God has sent you His children to love so that one day they will understand how much He loves them.
